（法新社華盛頓26日電） 根據一名擁有美國太空機構專業程度能力的火箭科學家表示，地球到火星的旅程未來可能只需39天，把目前所需飛 行時間縮短近6倍。
曾是太空人的麻省理工學院（MIT）物理學家張福林（Franklin Chang-Diaz）表示，他的高科技「可變比衝量磁性電漿火箭」（VASIMR）可大幅縮短前往火星的飛行時間。在經過數十年的研發，這項科技已準備 好上路。
鑒於美國國家航空暨太空總署（NASA）期待透過私人企業協助，來支付宇宙探索所需的天文成本，「可變比衝量磁性電漿火箭」正快速 成為該署未來發展策略的核心項目。
「星座計畫」（Constellation）因 政治因素遭取消後，情緒還未平復的NASA，已轉向企業來尋求驅動探測器或甚至未來載人任務的科技。「星座計畫」原本預計在10年內送人類重登月球。
NASA 現在把希望，寄託在像是張福林在德州的「艾德‧阿斯特拉火箭公司」（Ad Astra Rocket Company）等私人企業上。
張福林的VASIMR，利用電能把加熱至攝氏1100萬度的燃料（如氫、氦或重氫）轉換成等離子氣體燃料（plasma gas），並透過磁場把它導入尾管，來推動太空梭。
這將讓太空梭以估計每秒55公里的速度朝月球或火星前進，直到引擎反推為止。
60歲的張福林曾7度出太空任務。他說，急速加速讓前往火星的飛行時間從目前來回估計的3年（包括等待回地球時機而被迫在火星停留的18個月），縮短為 39天。（譯者：中央社張稚昀）

近年來因亞馬遜力推Kindle電子書，全球電子書市場大起，而在大陸市場的部分，除有中國移動，這家官方力挺 的電信系統廠正全力推動電子書產業的成形之外，方正等大陸本土PC龍頭廠也都確定跨足該領域，再者，大陸既有的2大電子書供應商漢王與金科目前在國際市場 上的知名度也逐步打開，因此早在去年底，諸多市調單位便曾預期，到了2010年大陸電子書市場將占全球總體市場的2成，而2011年以後，大陸甚至有機會 取代美國，成為全球最大的電子書消費地。
此外向來科技產業圈市場殺手的大陸深圳山寨業者，從去年第四季起便一窩蜂搶進電子書產業了，甚至早 在去年底，就有4~5款的山寨電子書問世，而今年跨入的廠商更多了，至今已推出的品牌約有10個，如在山寨大本營的深圳華強北商圈就可以看到多款以 「XXBooK」為名的山寨電子書，像lBook、DigiBook、Walkbook、BEBOOK、NUBOOK等。
但最讓科技圈震 驚、使品牌大廠又氣又怕的則是「山寨電子書公板」的問世！大陸山寨圈傳出，掌握電子紙專利技術的台系業者元太，為了制衡大客戶已大舉推出公板，山寨業者或 向元太採購公板，然後貼牌打上自己的Logo拿到市場銷售，或是使用津科的翰林V3模具OEM生產電子書，讓大陸山寨圈吹起電子書風潮更盛。
依 藉著台灣元太所推出的電子書公板，大陸山寨圈正吹起電子書的風潮，目前已跨入電子書領域的山寨廠數量至少數十家到上百家，這些廠商將陸續在今年第2季推出 產品，因此預計在今年內要上市的山寨電子書數量約達上百款，售價將訂在1,200元人民幣（下同）到1,500元間，這與目前 大陸漢王等品牌廠所推出均價在3,000元的電子書價格差距達到一半，這讓大陸的電子書市場在規模尚未擴大前就先行出現價格肉搏戰，但卻因此使得大陸電子 書的整體市價快速下滑，有助於市場規模打開，堪稱產業發展史上的元年。

In addition to the casual dress, Engineer Barbie accessories will include a laptop computer, a chewed up #2 pencil and an EE Times Product of the Year trophy.
"I can't wait to see how Engineer Barbie gets along with my Spa Getaway Barbie," said an excited Shelley Gretlein, real-time and embedded group manager at National Instruments. "Wait, that reminds me," she continued. "I hope my Fashion Fever Dream Closet is big enough for both Barbies and my Pirates of the Caribbean Ken!"
National Instruments also announced plans for Engineer Barbie 2.0 that will leverage the LabVIEW Embedded platform and the new distributed intelligence features of LabVIEW 8. Engineer Barbie 2.0 will dramatically simplify the process of designing, prototyping and deploying Barbie social networks.
